2012. 10″ x 10″. Playing cards, gesso, acrylic paint, graphite
The collage of the brain splits the cards in two categories, of number cards and [patterns from] face cards, designating the right and left sides of the brain. In theory, the left side of the brain is more focused on mathematics, and logic, while the right side is creativity and intuition. The obsession of cards for the compulsive gambler is evident here – the gambler’s mind only thinks of cards, and so his mind becomes cards. Likewise, a card-player’s hands, only wanting to feel cards, becomes cards as well.
